Yesterday, while scanning the channels from my TV, I was surprised after I saw the name Sankaku Complex. So I then watched eagerly to learn what it is about. But then, I was shocked to hear that SanCon is about to be banned here in the Philippines. The cause is that, SanCon is not providing more articles about the Philippines. “There is an unfair share of the Pie for the Philippines. Sankaku Complex is racist”, says DITI (Department of Internet Trade Industry) secretary, Juan dela Cruz.

On April 1, 2009, at exactly 1pm, Sankaku Complex will be blocked through out the Luzon Island, and at 6pm Visayas and Mindanao will follow. Internet Analyst say, that they don’t need and would not miss Sankaku Complex after it is blocked.

“It hasn’t been a year, but Sankaku Complex, the new website about anime and otaku culture is gaining reputation as a source of Asian news and trends. But sad to say, Philippines is not included in Asia. From the recent news about that Hong-Kong magazine incident, we can see that there is so much discrimination of Filipinos.

There is an unfair share of the Pie for the Philippines. Sankaku Complex is racist, there are far more otaku related news in the Philippines, why aren’t those being posted as content? There are much more lolicon related cases in the Philippines, but why isn’t it being discussed there? Where is our fair share of the Internet?

Without further hesitation, we will be blocking Sankaku Complex here in the Philippines. We would not miss it, Please go back to 4chan for better anime and otaku related updates”

- Juan Dela Cruz

In my part, as an avid reader of SanCon content, I’m very much against this blocking. I’m in rage as why they did not first consent the Internet users of the Philippines. now I’m just hoping that this could be avoided

A similar situation is also happening in Singapore, Danny Choo is banned. More details on the link.

Why is such occurences happening, is this coincidence? or a mere tactic of the ASEAN members against the Japanese?
