After weeks of productive break and various real life matters, I present some pictures from the recent Metro ComiCon at the SM Megamall Convention Center.

This is my first time attending a big local event and I could say that I quite had fun.

The Comicon.. of course is more about comics, but what I can see is that most of the cosplays and stuff are anime related. There were of course real comics and locally produced ones…

I’m not really fond of comics but I convinced myself to go. Not to mention I live close by and my friends are waiting.

The event wasn’t really that… good.. but it’s easy to have fun in it. Most I did was take pictures, look at the art works and loiter.

I also tried using the Wacom Cintiq on display.. it was pretty cash…

Every year, there’s this this day where everyone makes a fuss about having dates, giving away flowers and chocolates and also raep. At last a rise in Filipino pride once again!
Azkals Philippines 2 – Mongolia 0
AFC Challenge Cup February 9 2011

Panaad Stadium at Bacolod full with Filipino fans waiting since 3pm, the crowd is getting wild as the Philippines is getting back on the International Football scene. The Azkals sets pressure on Mongolia for almost the entire game. In the first few minutes there was already an attempt by the Filipino striker James Younghusband as he promised to do so. In mid first half, Mongolia’s number 9 received a red card for consecutive fouls and was sent out, this took a tremendous blow on the Mongolian defense, now they are down to a 10 man team. Late in the game on the first-half, Philippines scored against Mongolia and the crowd went wild for the first time! Chieffy Caligdong’s 3 great moves proved his top notch skills. More and more attempts were made soon after and the Philippines kept the pressure against Mongolia.

On the second half, Philippines still gave pressure against Mongolia and made more attempts. Shots were on target but Mongolia’s keeper wasn’t to be reckoned with. Shot after shot, Mongolia’s defense is getting maimed as the Azkals kick their way in. It would have been more than a 4 – 0 lead if the ball didn’t hit the post, the bar and tipped by the keeper, every shot was incredible.

Throughout most of the game, the Philippines had great composure except for a few sloppy passes made, but that didn’t down the Azkals, in fact they were occupying almost three fourths of the field and is relaxed while just passing the ball back and forth the pitch. Neil Etheridge is seen mostly out of his territory since the pressure against Mongolia is so strong that he doesn’t almost have anything much to do other than wait for some counter-attacks. Etheridge the keeper even almost had a goal from his long pass way down the field.

As the time is setting to close at 90 minutes, Mongolia is having hopes on keeping a 0 – 1 score since it would be acceptable and manageable because it’s a home-away game and they can have a come-back on the next match at their own home field . Although at the late stoppage time, Phil Younghusband scored a dream shattering goal against Mongolia and finally had the 2 – 0 lead!

I was scanning the winter anime list and of course I was looking for Moe characters or flat chested girls as a priority. I’ve seen a few and watched some previews, and this here Yumekui Merry seems to just have enough Moe in it and the DFC element at a glance. First few impression on this animu was that it’s going to be another school life anime with added fantasy elements, lots of fan service and boy hero gets viorensu from the girls for being a hentai.

Yumekui Merry [ 夢喰いメリ ] Dream Eater Merry

The plot revolves around partners Merry Nightmare and Yumeji scouting Dream Demons to find answers how to make Merry able to return in the Dream World. The two met by coincidence just like any other animu, and there they became friends. I find the show a bit unpredictable on the story aspect, usually animu plots have special patterns but this here seems to be good. However some dialogues and expressions can be predicted easily like how some supposed-to-be moe scenes are readily anticipated. The fact that this animu is about kicking dream demon ass, this show have so much bawww and dorama, so much of that it gave me some sort of fondness for crying girls… weird… you can see the pictures below of what I’m talking about…

On the first episode, I thought this animu would be about cats because of the weird dorimu Yumeji had on his first scenes. Cats running after him, fist bones flying as if they were clouds and weird ass environment. That place oculd be cat heaven but I wouldn’t want to live thar…

Also, I could not find any fan service, although there was one time when they were doing something in the bathroom but other than that there’s none, although I get to see Merry’s Delicious Tummy and some Shitapai which are gorgeous…

You’re going to have wet dreams tonight

Yumeji Fujiwara
A school boy who can predict dreams of people by making fake eye glasses gesture with his hand and seeing an aura around them, although most of his predictions are a bit off the mark, however he can clearly indentify when someone is going to have a nightmare. Even though he has that power, every night he gets nightmares about being chased by cats, and at one time he met the cat’s boss named Chaser John Doe who dared to take his body as a vessel to cross the real world, but ever since Merry stepped in, he didn’t have those dreams anymore so far.

Like a typical Boy Hero, he’s lazy, oblivious and weak yet very determined and strong willed and loves to help people in need and usually gets involved in their matters. To cut it short, he’s nosy…

He met Merry by chance with an Anime Cliché fashion – Girl falls on top of Boy. At that time, Merry lost her hat and Yumeji found it, there a Daydream occurred where they meet again and saved each other. A few events later, they became partners, Yumeji scouts for Dream Demons, and Merry exterminates them.

Merry Nightmare
A lost sheep of the Dream World who wants to return (Well ’sheep’ because her eyes look like one of a sheep’s). She got lost 10 years ago to the real world left without any significant memories. Dream demons need to possess humans as vessel to enter the real world, but unlike her, she does not need to and can freely wonder in this place. Before knowing Yumeji, he met 3 dream demons and hoped they will be the doors to go back the dream world, but somehow it does not go the way she wants, since the dream demons are in fact going the other way into the real world.

Can I be a forced Meme?

She met Yumeji by chance when she fell on top of him, she and he got absorbed in a Daydream and soon became partners in hunting dream demons even though being hesitant at first.

The president or leader of the writing club at Yumeji’s school, she’s soft-spoken and very kind. She became a victim of a dream demon in an episode, but spare the details…

Looks like the fag of the series, he loves to write haikus with his awesome writing pen and a piece of paper. He usually just brushes off the paper and Kanjis magically appear.

Saki Kirishina
Another friend of Yumeji and a member of the writing club, she’s quite boyish and is quite fascinated by Yumeji’s abilities to predict dreams.
Somehow, she reminds me of my waifu Misao Kusakabe, but she’s got normal bewbs so I’m having second thoughts of having her also as my waifu… But yeah, she’s really kakkoii sugoi desu.

John Doe – Chaser
The first deam demon shown in the series, he is the boss of the cats from Yumeji’s nightmare. He wants to capture Yumeji in order to make him his vessel and cross to the real world. I do wonder how they decided up on his name… If you don’t know what I mean, John Doe is some sort of placeholder name for legal cases or discussions in the US, it’s also being used to name unidentified male corpses. It can also be a spy name in non-English speaking countries. Snake said his name is John Doe with a hint of being a joke. This adds mystery to Chaser John Doe’s significance in the show…

His costume looks sugoi for me, he’s got that metalic nekomimi and torn up hood which would be awesome for cospurei and he also has that bad ass guillotine like katar.

A cute girl who Yumeji and Merry met at the supermarket. She doesn’t seem to mind when Yumeji saw her panties… She likes to collect keychains and weird toys. She’s quite a good girl to be a waifu

She is a dream demon inside Yui, she asked for permission fromYui to posses her so that she can find the alleged culprit of her sister’s death who was tricked in going to the real world where she got killed.

Last thoughts, this show would be an easy favorite if it had more fan service specially on the DFC aspect, but nevertheless this show is good enough to be a past time and a source for dorama and bawwwww. The show is interesting enough to keep me watching and wait to see some more…

This is what real mahou shoujos are about – smoke-belching magical flying sticks.

So there’s this girl named Subaru and obviously it’s taken from the name of the car maker brand. She’s the heroine of the show; having witness a spectacle of flying stars this soon changed her destiny to become a Puella Magi… I mean a mahou shoujo.

Stereotypes and more stereotypes… Subaru is a stereotype, a clumsy-ditsy-weak-but-strong-willed-girl-with-tremendous-potential-according-to-a-magical-creature-that-becomes-the-most-powerfull-eventually… Seems familiar? Of course it is! Because it’s a stereotype on Mahou Shoujos for Kami-sama’s sake! Almost forgot one more thing… She’s so kyuuuto….

NONORIRI!!!

Okay since I’m a sucker for Moe and Gainax, I liked the show and would want to see more or look forward to. The show ended in a cliff hanger and also hinting a probable extension of the story any time soon.

Now about the burando… since Subaru is a commercial brand, I expect much of advertisements in the show, but WTH I didn’t find any other than the name of the girl… Not until I came across mind-fuck images across the net on the Subaru Connection on the anime. The sticks they ride on have that wing like accessories that seems to be the trade mark frontal design of the Subaru cars. I think it’s totally cool and answers my question as to why would a magical flying stick driven by cute magical girls is smoke-belching like crazy and sounds like car engines when being started… WTF

Last thoughts, Aoi is so Kawaii Sugoi Kakkoii Desu and would like to start her engines with my key if you know what I mean…

Project Diva PC Download

I mentioned in my earlier post about playing Project Diva PC fan-port based from Hatsune Miku Project Diva from the PSP, so I guess this might be a good time to introduce it.

This here is Project Z-1 a rhythm game heavily based from the Hatsune Miku: Project Diva for the PSP by Sega, it is made by the Chinese game programmer group called GameMaster, the most they did is hack off the important files like wav sounds, sprites, images, etc. from the UMD of the original game and built the base GUI of the game from it. That’s text book definition of China Quality for you!

The game works as if it was the real PSP game; you play by pressing buttons as the flying shapes approach the corresponding symbol while the Miku music on the background is playing, It’s a rhythm game after all… The main difference is that the PSP version has real time 3D rendering of Hatsune Miku and the other Vocaloids. With 3D rendering, you can change costumes, accessories and the likes. While on the Fan Port, the visuals on the background while playing are just recorded or downloaded Miku Videos from NicoNicoDouga, it makes sense since it would really be difficult to port every detail of the 3D aspect of the real game, recorded videos would do the trick but the main disadvantage is that you wouldn’t be able to edit in real time, not to mention change costumes and accessories.

You can readily add, edit, delete the songs and visuals of the game; even to edit the timing of the button sequences is possible. The Project Z-1 also comes with the “Map Editor” so that you can build or edit the symbol timings for a certain song or music, and it’s also Open Source!

Since basically you can add almost any song you like, the fan port seems to have every song from the original game and also some unofficial music out of the game. I even replaced some of the videos in there because it was really Low Quality (too blurry and pixilated).

The game is quite fun and dead-on based on the gameplay, if you don’t have a PSP and you’ve been dying to play Hatsune Miku: Project Diva, you can practice or even let this be an alternative for the time being. Some songs have almost the same button sequences from the original game, so when you switch to the real deal, you would already be familiar with what buttons to smash.

Here are some screenshots, there isn’t much anything to see other than the gameplay, the menu are just a few levels deep and are quite direct. In the menu, the only thing that seems to work is the Play and CGPics. The Play menu basically directs you to the song list and after that you can play your choice, the CGPics menu is basically just a straight forward CG viewer… To think of it, it’s almost even unecessary to have a CG menu… And the way I see it, I think most of the pictures came from Pixiv and Piapro.

As we see here, there’s a Story Mode and Network Mode, they say both are in development currently.

The games have some bugs here and there but I managed to find some simple workarounds for it, so it’s no problem. Also, it’s best to play the game in Chinese Language Locale so that some fonts would load up correctly; this game was developed by the Chinese after all…
